Theo các thông tin mà GameLandVN mới cập nhật, giải đấu Dota 2 ESL One Genting 2017 sẽ diễn ra trong 3 ngày (từ 6/1 đến 8/1/2017) tại Arena of Stars, Resort World Genting ở Malaysia. ESL One Genting 2017 là giải đấu đầu tiên trong hệ thống giải ESL One được tổ chức tại Malaysia. Giải đấu này quy tụ tám đội tuyển Dota 2 hàng đầu thế giới với phần thưởng là 250.000 đô la Mỹ (gần 5,7 tỉ đồng).
Các đội tuyển tham dự ESL One Genting 2017 sẽ phải trải qua hai giai đoạn là vòng bảng và vòng chung kết. Vòng bảng của ESL One Genting 2017 sẽ diễn ra theo thể thức nhánh thắng nhánh thua. Hai đội đứng đầu mỗi bảng sẽ giành quyền tham dự vòng chung kết. Vòng chung kết của ESL One Genting 2017 sẽ diễn ra theo thể thức loại trực tiếp.
Hai trận đấu đầu tiên tại vòng bảng sẽ diễn ra theo thể thức BO1, các trận đấu còn lại sẽ diễn ra theo thể thức BO3, riêng trận chung kết sẽ diễn ra theo thể thức BO5.
Theo kết quả chia bảng mà ESL mới công bố, bảng A của ESL One Genting 2017 là cuộc cạnh tranh giữa Virtus.pro, Fnatic, Newbee và Team NP. Digital Chaos, Execration, Wings Gaming và Warriors Gaming Unity được xếp vào bảng B. Hai trận đấu đầu tiên của bảng A lần lượt là Virtus.pro gặp Fnatic và Newbee gặp Team NP. Hai trận đấu đầu tiên của bảng B là Digital Chaos gặp Execration và Wings Gaming gặp WG Unity.
Tính đến thời điểm hiện tại, hai đội chưa hoàn thiện đội hình thi đấu cho ESL One Genting 2017 là Fnatic và Execration. Fnatic mới chỉ có hai thành viên là Mushi và Ohaiyo trong khi Execration đã có 4 thành viên, gồm: Gabbi, DJ, Owa và Kim0.
